About Us
We have been operating since September 1989 when we started in Medstead Village Hall. Five years later with a lot of local support we battled against all odds and succeeded in obtaining all the permissions, raised sufficient funds and built our own building in the grounds of Medstead School. In 2003 we added to our space by raising the roof, and putting in the first floor.
The staff are a well established, well trained team who work hard to ensure that the children achieve their maximum potential.
We are registered for 24 children downstairs and 14 children up-stairs at  each session. We provide excellent staff/children ratios with the minimum of one adult to four children up to 3 years of age and one adult to six children for the 3 & 4 year olds. The starting age is usually 2yrs 6mnths, however by arrangement we can take children from 2yrs.
We have qualified Special Needs expertise and also British Sign Language staff who are able to provide total communication support to profoundly deaf pre-school children to ensure that these children have an equal opportunity to develop in all areas for children’s learning.
We provide opportunities for all of the children in our care to take full advantage to  the standards required by ‘Every Child Matters’ as set out in the Children Act 2004. We have a framework to support  ‘Birth to Three Matters’ for the younger children and and the Foundation Stage Curriculum for the older children.
Our affairs are managed by a Committee which consists of parents who have children attending the setting and the setting’s leader. We also work very closely with Medstead Primary School, and other local schools in the area, to ensure that the Playgroup and Early Learner activities are structured to ease the children’s transition to "Big School".
Each session is organised and run by a Supervisor and a Deputy who are qualified in the development and education of the under five's. All of our staff are OFSTED approved and are First Aid qualified.
We are delighted to welcome prospective children and parents for short visits during the term before they start. This will enable you both to  familiarise yourself with what we do and get to know the other children and the staff so that your child will feel happy and comfortable when they start.
We encourage parents to make a positive and essential contribution to the education of their child and we hope they will become actively involved with Medstead Pre-School & Nursery.
